St. Thomas Koodarayogam, New Jersey (South)

On behalf of St. Thomas Koodarayogam, I am proud of our Church’s accomplishment of reaching this milestone of our 5th Anniversary. Our four Koodarayogams are four important branches of our Church community and by staying close to the Church, we are able to flourish and bear fruit through faith.

Koodarayogam is a special gathering in our community that unites all members of our Koordarayogam together in prayer, discussion, and socialization alongside the Parish Priest Fr. Bins Chethalil. St. Thomas Koodarayogam, formerly known as South Koodarayogam gather once a month in one household. Under the spiritual direction of Fr. Renny Kattel, we were able to begin and organize this initiative which was welcomed and accepted by all the community members. From the original sixteen families, we have truly grown to twenty one families. We chose St. Thomas as our Patron Saint under the spiritual direction of Fr. Bins Chethalil and celebrate our feast day on July 3rd.

The goal of this Koodarayogam is to bring all the faithful members together and to strengthen the bond between families as we grow closer to God. As Mathew 18:20 states, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” This is a strong foundation for our upcoming generations as we model the way for our youth to place God at the forefront and come together as a community. We are able to pass on our Knanaya traditions to the next generation that we have learned from our forefathers.

Let’s uphold the unity in Christ that we have inherited from our forefathers. Let our Wood Anniversary celebration be a reminder for us to stay close to each other and to the Church as a Koodarayogam.

As Mother Theresa once said, “I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot; together we can do great things for God and for God’s people.”
